Maricopa County transfer stations offer the cheapest small-load disposal in the metro at $6 per car, $9 per van/SUV, and $12 per pickup truck — dramatically cheaper than the $40 minimum at City of Phoenix stations. The Cave Creek location at 3955 E Carefree Highway operates Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Appliances cost only $8 each (versus $20 at City stations) and scrap metal is free. Debit and credit cards only — no cash accepted. Additional county stations at New River, Rainbow Valley, Hassayampa, and Morristown.
Yes — the City of Phoenix requires an Express Exit Disposal Permit Decal for each commercial vehicle using City transfer stations. The permit requires a $1,000 minimum bond or cash deposit. It significantly speeds up entry and exit processing. Contact (602) 262-6251 or email solid.waste@phoenix.gov to apply. You also need cash for the entry deposit at City stations — credit and debit cards are not accepted for deposits due to bank policy. WM and Republic facilities have their own commercial account processes.
City of Phoenix transfer stations (27th Avenue and North Gateway) are open Saturday 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Salt River Landfill has Saturday hours from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM — 30 minutes longer. Northwest Regional Landfill (WM) is open Saturday 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Republic Services Transfer Station opens at 5:00 AM Saturday until noon. Maricopa County Cave Creek is open Saturday 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Butterfield Station Landfill is closed weekends. No facilities are open on Sundays.

Non-certified green organics still get a discount at $37 per ton. Contact (602) 262-6251 or email solid.waste@phoenix.gov for certification details. Salt River Landfill charges $60 per ton for green waste with no discount, and rejected green waste (palms, cactus, oleanders, bamboo, grass, sod) costs $70 per ton.
